Why Dog Walking or Park Excursions?
-
Peace of Mind: People today are very busy struggling to balance work, household responsibilities, and social schedules. Should we be prohibited from experiencing the unconditional love and uninhibited joy that animals bring into our lives because we have hectic lives? NOT A CHANCE!!
-
By providing your pet with exercise throughout the day you can feel good about meeting up with those friends for dinner after work or taking that class because you have always wanted to learn Italian! With the help of a dog walker you can have the best of both worlds. Dogs can be dogs and you can be you! Everyone is healthy and balanced leading to a better relationship between you and your hound.

Social Benefits: While pets love their people, nothing replaces the social interaction they need with other dogs. Did you know canines have a language all of their own? It is a universal language that all dogs are born understanding. Dogs have strong instincts for conflict solving, communication, and cooperation. Through signals they communicate exactly how they are feeling. We know of at least 30 signals and they often happen so quickly that we need to look hard to see them. Other dogs can easily see them and park excursions provide them with the opportunity to keep their social skills sharp.

Alleviate Behavior Problems: Common behavioral problems such as excessive barking, chewing, and digging, are often driven simply by a lack of exercise and stimulation. Dogs do not display so called ‘bad behavior’ to spite us. They are simply bored and have limited ways in which they can communicate to us how they are feeling. Many of the most popular breeds among city dwellers are working dogs. They were bred to have jobs such as hunting and herding. Now these same dogs are restricted to eating, sleeping, and the occasional walk creating frustration. By giving your dog a positive outlet to exert his or her energy you will reduce (if not eliminate) many of these issues.
Exercise & Education
Over a 45-minute walk I will work on behaviors to help your dog be a better family member. Training can range from basic behaviors such as sit, down and stay, to more advanced behaviors such as casual heel (mechanism against leash pulling). This is a flexible program and your behavior(s) of choice can be discussed during our initial consultation.
